Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Interview

According to Главком: In an interview with Politico at the Munich Security Conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the administration of Donald Trump to intensify pressure on Russia. Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire, but Russia has rejected this proposal. He also noted that any security guarantees for Ukraine must be legally backed by a vote in the U.S. Congress. This appeal comes at a critical juncture as Western support for Ukraine faces political scrutiny in several allied capitals.

Zelenskyy reported that his delegation informed him of the fruitless negotiations in the United Arab Emirates. The Kremlin continues to adhere to a hard line and shows no readiness for territorial concessions, leading to a deadlock in the negotiation process. Consequently, Donald Trump is considering the possibility of ending his participation in the diplomatic process concerning Ukraine's future in the coming weeks.

Core Requirements for Ukraine's Stability

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of upholding international commitments and pointed out that the world has already made a significant compromise, as Vladimir Putin and his inner circle are not behind bars. He also remarked,

“I am younger than Putin – that is important. He does not have as much time.”

According to Zelenskyy, the key requirements for future stability are that security guarantees must be legally reinforced either through a vote in the U.S. Congress for direct funding of a post-war army, or through an official interstate agreement. These demands underscore the critical need for sustained and legally binding international support to ensure regional security.

Zelenskyy's address at the Munich conference reflects Ukraine's strategic position in the context of the ongoing conflict with Russia and highlights the necessity of international solidarity on security issues. The emphasis on legally binding security guarantees demonstrates Ukraine's pursuit of not just political, but also legal backing from the U.S. and other allies. The situation in Ukraine remains tense, and the outcomes of current diplomatic efforts are becoming critically important for the stability of the region.
