Introduction of a state of emergency in Ukraine's energy sector

According to ХВИЛЯ: President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced the introduction of a state of emergency in Ukraine's energy sector. This decision was made after a meeting dedicated to the consequences of Russian strikes and worsening weather conditions affecting the country's energy system.

The head of the work to support people and communities has been designated as the First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Energy of Ukraine. The government plans to intensify cooperation with partners to obtain the necessary equipment and additional support. The Cabinet of Ministers will ensure maximum deregulation of processes for connecting backup energy equipment to the networks, which should facilitate a quicker response to the situation.

Government actions and their goals

Furthermore, work is underway to increase the volume of electricity imports. Zelensky has also instructed the government to prepare a review of the curfew rules during cold weather to ensure citizens' safety. In Kyiv, plans are being made to increase the number of Resilience Points and check their availability. The Ministry of Education and Science, together with local authorities, is required to submit proposals regarding the formats of the educational process during the state of emergency.

'People should have maximum opportunities to use support points, and businesses should have the ability to plan their work considering the situation in the energy system,' said Volodymyr Zelensky.

The introduction of a state of emergency in the energy sector indicates the seriousness of the situation Ukraine is facing, considering both military and weather factors. The government's actions aimed at activating electricity imports and creating Resilience Points are intended to ensure stability and safety for the population during the energy crisis.

This may also affect the business environment, which requires clear forecasts for planning its activities amid unpredictable disruptions in energy supply.
