Allegations by Zinaida Kubar Against Serhiy Lyovochkin

According to Главком: Ukrainian artist Zinaida Kubar has filed a report with the National Police of Ukraine against her former partner, Serhiy Lyovochkin. In her statement, she accuses him of violating her privacy, committing domestic violence, and other criminal acts. Kubar was previously in a common-law marriage with Lyovochkin, who is currently a member of parliament and a former head of the Presidential Administration under Viktor Yanukovych.

Kubar alleges that Lyovochkin used physical force against her and made threats. She specified that she received threats from her ex-partner concerning her current husband, who was recently transferred to a different military unit in Odesa. In her statements, she noted there is evidence including medical documentation and records of calls to the national police, which she says substantiate the violence perpetrated by Lyovochkin.

The Situation and Law Enforcement Response

Zinaida Kubar also stated that Lyovochkin took the liberty of sending intimate videos, recorded without her consent during their cohabitation, to her current husband. She further pointed to an incident involving the theft of her car. Kubar emphasizes that the situation has not received an adequate response from the leadership of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, which she also references in her complaints.

Kubar's complaints reference several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, specifically Articles 151-2, 126-1, 182, and 289. The case has generated significant public attention, yet the artist remains dissatisfied with the response from the relevant authorities so far.

This case highlights the critical issues of domestic violence and women's rights protection in Ukraine. The response of law enforcement to such incidents can significantly influence public perception of the problem and shape related policy. It is crucial that such allegations are taken seriously and that victims of violence receive the necessary support and protection. High-profile cases like this often test the effectiveness of legal reforms aimed at combating domestic abuse.
