Tetiana Danchul's Family: Adopting Six Children Amidst the War in Ukraine
The Story of Tetiana Danchul
According to Державна міграційна служба: Since 1996, Tetiana Danchul, a resident of Ukraine's Mykolaiv region, has dedicated herself to raising children, taking several young Ukrainians under her care. She chose to remain in her country following the full-scale invasion, and over the last three years of war, her family has grown by six more children. Five of these children are biological siblings. The family, who lives in the village of Ivanivka within the Kutsurub community, has not left their region or Ukraine.
A mobile assistance group recently helped Tetiana obtain Ukrainian passports for all ten of her children, enabling them to travel abroad. This is a crucial step in securing their future rights and opportunities, providing them with greater safety and mobility.
Tetiana's Reflections
“Of course we were scared and anxious for the children, of course we were confused and didn't know how to proceed or what to do next. But my husband, my father, and I decided we would not go anywhere. Ukraine is our home, our land, and we want to stay together here.” - Tetiana Danchul
Tetiana shares her philosophy on raising children: “People often tell me that these children will grow up, start their own lives, and won't even say 'thank you.' But the point is, I'm not raising them and putting a piece of my soul into them to hear 'thank you.' I do it so these children can feel what family is and what love is.” She believes every child deserves love and attention: “There are no 'other people's' children. Everyone deserves love. If every family could take in at least one child, there would be many more happy children.”
Tetiana Danchul exemplifies boundless love and devotion, providing family warmth and support to children during extremely difficult times. Her story underscores the enduring importance of family values and humanity in society, especially amidst modern crises. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has displaced millions and left many children vulnerable, making the actions of individuals like Tetiana profoundly significant.
Tetiana Danchul's story reflects not only an individual's contribution to child welfare but also the broader importance of social responsibility. In wartime conditions, where many children lose parental care, such actions help create a more stable and secure environment for them. Securing passports for the children opens new possibilities for their future, a vital step in protecting their rights. Her example also serves as an inspiration for other families to consider how they might help children in need of support and love.
