According to Рубрика — Суспільство: At the 2026 World Wrestling Championships held in Astana, Kazakhstan, Ukraine’s women’s team delivered an outstanding performance, finishing fourth in the overall team standings. The Ukrainian athletes earned a total of three medals: one gold, one silver, and one bronze. This marks the nation’s strongest showing in women’s wrestling at the World Championships since 2007. Their success also secured Ukraine’s position as the highest-ranked European team and reaffirmed their status as Europe’s top wrestling nation following the continental championships earlier in 2026.

Medal Winners and Key Performances

Anastasia Alpeieva captured the gold medal in the 76 kg weight class, contributing a vital victory to Ukraine’s medal tally.

“Anastasia Alpeieva brought home the world championship gold for the team,” the official competition report stated.

In the 55 kg category, Natalia Klivchutska earned silver after a final bout against American wrestler Everest Laideker.

“Natalia Klivchutska secured the silver medal in the 55 kg division,” the organizers highlighted.

Maria Vynnyk claimed bronze in the 59 kg weight division by winning the repechage match.

Prior to 2026, Ukraine’s best result was a third-place finish in 2007. The team’s 106 points in Astana set a new record under the revised ranking system introduced in 2018, surpassing their previous high of 92 points at the 2019 World Championships. The competition will continue until November 1.

This impressive showing underscores the rapid advancement of women’s wrestling in Ukraine and signals the team’s growing competitiveness on the world stage. Their medal haul and high team ranking are expected to inspire a new generation of female wrestlers and boost the sport’s popularity across the country.

As Ukraine's athletes continue to excel on the international stage, their achievements in wrestling are complemented by successes in other combat sports. Recently, Taras Bohdan captured a bronze medal at the 2026 World Armwrestling Championship in India, showcasing the nation's growing prowess across various disciplines. This highlights the depth of talent within Ukraine's sports community, further enhancing their reputation in global competitions.
