According to glavcom.ua: An accident occurred at a railway crossing in the Smolensk region - a freight truck collided with a locomotive. Fortunately, according to media reports, no one was killed as a result of the incident, but two people sustained moderate injuries.

The train driver attempted to avoid the accident, but was unable to prevent the collision. The train driver and his assistant were injured and hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Firefighters are currently extinguishing a fire in six cars that contained fuel and lubricants. More than 40 specialists and 10 units of equipment have been dispatched to the accident site. Train movements in the area are temporarily suspended.

Fuel crisis in Russia

Russia’s fuel crisis has escalated due to Ukrainian drone strikes on oil facilities. This has led to restrictions on gasoline sales, the closure of some gas stations, or a shift to diesel fuel. Consequently, gasoline prices are suddenly rising due to fuel shortages. Expert Yevgeny Istrebin noted that the situation worsened after attacks on oil refineries in Russia, leading to further increases in fuel prices.

During the accident at the railway crossing in the Smolensk region, the train driver and his assistant were injured, but there were no casualties among passengers. The fuel situation in Russia has deteriorated due to Ukrainian drone strikes on oil facilities, leading to transitional restrictions on gasoline sales and a sharp rise in fuel prices.
