Зустріч з командою Трампа у Маямі: основні моменти та розбіжності у переговорах між США та Україною

Meeting of the Ukrainian delegation with the Trump administration

The meeting of the Ukrainian delegation with representatives of the Trump administration, which took place on November 30 in Miami, revealed deep contradictions in approaches to resolving the war in Ukraine. Exploring issues of territorial distribution and security, the participants of the meeting were unable to reach a consensus. The Ukrainian side, led by President Volodymyr Zelensky, categorically rejected US territorial demands regarding part of the Donetsk region. For their part, representatives of the United States, including special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff, sought to discuss options that involved compromises.

The negotiations lasted about two hours but did not yield significant positive results. President Zelensky emphasized that the issue of Ukraine's territorial integrity is critically important, and any attempts to question these demands are unacceptable. According to Ukrainian data, the situation at the front remains tense: over the past week, the following was recorded:

  • 1400 drone attacks,
  • 1100 guided bombs,
  • 66 missile strikes.

On November 21, the first version of the 'Trump plan' leaked, which reflected the Kremlin's demands, causing additional concern in Kyiv. Against the backdrop of these events, on November 28, The Wall Street Journal published an investigation regarding the ambitions of Trump's entourage, which also influenced the context of the meeting.

Security guarantees for Ukraine

In addition to territorial issues, an important aspect of the discussion was security guarantees for Ukraine. The Ukrainian side insisted on receiving clear commitments from the US regarding protection from potential aggression from Russia. Senator Marco Rubio noted:

“The goal should be not only to cease hostilities but also to ensure a conclusion to the war that leaves Ukraine sovereign and independent, with a chance for true prosperity.” - Marco Rubio

A key issue raised during the meeting was also the issue of energy and the American side's ability to convince the Russians during negotiations. A European diplomat emphasized the importance of this aspect, pointing out that the effectiveness of diplomatic efforts largely depends on the US position.

Thus, the meeting in Miami was unable to overcome the existing differences between Ukraine and the US, exacerbating issues that require further discussion and clarification.

This meeting highlights the complexity of the negotiation process between Ukraine and the US, where territorial integrity remains a priority for the Ukrainian side. At the same time, the US position on potential compromises and security issues raises concerns in Kyiv, which may affect further diplomatic efforts in the context of the war with Russia. The importance of clear commitments from the US may become a key factor in shaping a stable security architecture in the region.
