Zelensky and Putin Meeting in Two Weeks: US Reveals Details of Negotiations
According to Студия Руслана Бизяева: US President Donald Trump's special envoy Kurt Volker suggested that a meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia could take place in two to three weeks. According to him, if the negotiations go positively, Donald Trump may join them to finalize the 'great deal'. These statements came amid recent talks in Geneva, where working groups from both countries were active and certain non-public agreements were reached. After the official part, the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, communicated with Ukrainian representatives for another hour and a half.
President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to the facts, gave his negotiation team directives to work on the possibility of a meeting with Vladimir Putin. However, the American side indicates that such a meeting can only happen with Trump's participation. Kurt Volker stated that
'the US understands Putin's position and his red lines'
- he noted.
Diplomatic Moves and Domestic Political Tension
The negotiation process is taking place with the mediation not only of Volker but also of Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, which indicates a high priority for this issue within the US administration. The latter reportedly established a deadline for the Ukrainian issue by the summer of 2026.
These diplomatic moves occur simultaneously with domestic political tension in Ukraine. The former commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, now the ambassador to the UK, Valeriy Zaluzhny, sharply criticized President Zelensky in an interview with The Guardian. In parallel, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a plan for the deployment of an international peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine involving up to 30 countries, noting that
'the conflict could have been avoided if Western allies had paid more attention to Putin's escalating aggression'
.
These events create a complex geopolitical backdrop for future high-level negotiations.
