Zelenska awarded Irish medics for saving lives on the front lines

Irish medics received an award from Zelenska

The First Lady Olena Zelenska met with representatives of University College Dublin, who are actively helping Ukraine implement advanced emergency medical assistance techniques on the front lines. Gratitude was expressed for this important contribution to saving lives and the "Golden Heart" award was presented.

Irish specialists, together with their Ukrainian colleagues, launched the UCD Ukraine Trauma Project aimed at reducing deaths from massive bleeding on the front lines. So far, eight training missions have taken place in Ukraine, training over 600 specialists, and an Irish-Ukrainian training team has been formed. This collaboration has helped save more lives and strengthened the partnership between the countries.

"We are proud that such people are alongside our warriors and civilians, with our doctors. Thank you to the specialists for their knowledge, experience, and time. It is so important – during such an extremely difficult time to be on the right side of history."

Ukraine is receiving external assistance and support in implementing advanced emergency medical assistance techniques from Irish specialists. This cooperation has led to a reduction in deaths from massive bleeding and improved medical care on the front lines, as well as strengthened the partnership between the countries. A key role in this is played by the UCD Ukraine Trauma Project initiative, which has enabled the training of hundreds of specialists and created a team to provide emergency medical assistance.
