146 thousand reservists receive pensions from 38 years: MP demands changes
Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Social Policy Halyna Tretyakova stated that there are certain privileged conditions for pension provision in Ukraine. For example, certain groups of citizens can receive a pension, having sufficient work experience, from 38 to 45 years, regardless of age. Moreover, there is no discussion in parliament about increasing the retirement age.
Tretyakova emphasized that this practice leads to inequality in the pension system, especially when it comes to special conditions for specific categories of citizens who are kept under a certain patronage system. Her opinion is that everyone should retire within the age limits defined by law.
«Different retirement age is discrimination. Everyone should have the same conditions», - stressed the MP.
The Committee Chair also noted that it is necessary to review the pension provision system, particularly to avoid reserving pensions for certain categories of individuals and to review the entire structure of special pensions. Such changes, according to her, concern fairness in society and equal opportunities for participation in the state's mobilization.
Tretyakova also highlighted the existence of problems in the military sector that are often not discussed in publicly available sources and complicate the adoption of important decisions. She called for the reform of the army and a review of its structure.
