November 21: What the Day of Dignity and Freedom Truly Means
NOVEMBER 21 – DAY OF DIGNITY AND FREEDOM
Ukraine marks November 21 as the Day of Dignity and Freedom, symbolizing the resilience of the people, dedication to democratic values, and the European choice of the country.
Dignity and freedom reflect the essence of Ukrainian statehood and remind us of the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity, when Ukrainians stood firm for their right to freedom and dignity.
‘Human dignity should be regarded as a right guaranteed by Article 28 of the Constitution of Ukraine, and as a constitutional value that gives meaning to human existence, is the foundation for all other constitutional rights, defines their essence and limits of rights’.
The Constitutional Court of Ukraine supports the values that were chosen by the people and emphasizes that dignity is the foundation of human rights and the rule of law.
On this day, we honor civic activists, military personnel, and volunteers who help Ukraine on its path to democracy. It is important for us to remember and honor the heroes who gave their lives for the country's independence.
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!
The Day of Dignity and Freedom in Ukraine celebrates the resilience of the nation, the importance of democratic values, and the memory of the heroes who fought for the freedom and dignity of the country.
