Несподіване кохання: історія чоловіка, який знайшов щастя в 69 років у будинку для людей похилого віку в Україні.

An Uncommon Celebration at the Krolevets Residential Home

According to Главком: A heartwarming event recently unfolded at the Krolevets home for the elderly in the Sumy region, where residents Oleksandr Rakoїd, 69, and Liubov Usikova, 84, exchanged vows. Having been married for six months now, their story powerfully illustrates that meaningful relationships can begin at any stage of life. This union offers a poignant reminder that the need for companionship and love endures well into our later years.

For Oleksandr Rakoїd, the decision to move into the care home led to his first marriage at age 69.

"After I retired, I decided to move into the home to continue my life here," Oleksandr recounts. "That's where I met my future bride. Life has changed. For the better so far. There's someone by my side. And the staff supports both of us."

Liubov Usikova, originally from the Dnipropetrovsk region, came to the home after suffering a stroke. "I worked as a cleaner, washing clothes for miners and cleaning," Liubov recalls of her past. "Then I met a doctor who referred me here, saying, 'It will be good for you here.'"

Life and Support Within the Home

Oleksandr and Liubov now live together as a married couple in their own room. The home's director, Lidiia Makarovets, notes that Oleksandr actively helps with cleaning the grounds and works in the workshop with a labor therapy instructor.

"He has skillful hands and helps within the limits of his physical health. So now he leads an active lifestyle," the director emphasizes.

Liubov Usikova also highlights the positive changes in their lives: "It's good, he doesn't offend me, thank God. All the time, wherever he is, I am there too." Their story stands as a testament to how support and new connections can profoundly alter one's life, even in old age.

This case underscores the vital importance of social support and the opportunity for elderly individuals to form new bonds, which can significantly impact their emotional and physical well-being. The marriage of Oleksandr and Liubov demonstrates that love and companionship can emerge in the most unexpected circumstances, offering hope to other care home residents and their families.
