Iran Halts Uranium Enrichment After US and Israeli Strikes

According to hvylya.net: Iran is currently not conducting uranium enrichment at any facility in the country following the war that took place in June when the United States and Israel attacked Iranian enrichment facilities. Tehran asserts its 'undeniable right' to the peaceful use of nuclear technologies, but US President Donald Trump threatens new strikes.

Official Statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that all Iranian facilities are under the control and monitoring of the International Atomic Energy Agency and there are no disruptions in the uranium enrichment process due to the attacks they have faced. The Minister highlighted Iran's undeniable right to enrich and utilize nuclear technologies.

Status of Iran's Nuclear Program

Before the strikes in June, Iran was actively developing its nuclear program, increasing its stock of enriched uranium. Resumption of uranium enrichment is possible even within a few months, but satellite images indicate a lack of activity at the facilities in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz.

President Trump threatens Iran with new strikes if it attempts to resume its nuclear capabilities. Additionally, the US insists on the complete dismantling of the uranium enrichment program.

History of the Nuclear Agreement

In 2015, Iran signed a nuclear agreement with six world powers that required the scaling back of its nuclear program in exchange for lifting sanctions. However, in 2018, President Trump withdrew the US from the agreement, which led to a deterioration of the situation.

After the June war, Israel destroyed Iran's air defense systems, leaving the country vulnerable to further possible attacks, as tensions regarding the nuclear program remain high.

Following the US and Israeli strikes, Iran ceased uranium enrichment but reaffirmed its right to use it peacefully. Resumption of enrichment is possible, but there is currently an increase in emergency situations and tension in the region due to potential new strikes and threats from the US President.
