Lawyer for Suspect in Iryna Farion Murder Case Suspended from Practice for One Year

Lawyer of the accused in the murder of Farion suspended from work for a year
Адвокат підозрюваного у справі про вбивство Ірини Фаріон тимчасово позбавлений ліцензії на рік.

Larysa Kryvoruchko’s Law License Suspended

According to Главком: On June 5, the Vinnytsia Regional Qualification and Disciplinary Bar Commission ruled to temporarily revoke the right to practice law for Larysa Kryvoruchko, the attorney representing Viacheslav Zinchenko-the accused in the murder of Iryna Farion. The suspension will last for one year.

The decision stemmed from violations of legal ethics that were documented at the Uzhhorod City Court in 2025. Kryvoruchko took over Zinchenko’s defense in April 2026, after he dismissed his previous lawyers, Ihor Sulyma and Volodymyr Voroniak, during court debates.

Reactions and Next Steps

Mykola Saveliev commented on the situation, stating:

'This violation has absolutely nothing to do with the case involving the suspect in the murder of linguist Iryna Farion.' Mykola Saveliev

Kryvoruchko’s next move is to appeal the commission’s ruling to the Higher Qualification and Disciplinary Bar Commission. If that body does not overturn the suspension, she can then take the matter to court.

This case highlights the critical role of ethical standards in legal practice, especially in high-profile cases that draw public attention. The suspension of Kryvoruchko could affect the defense strategy for Zinchenko and the overall timeline of the trial. While an appeal offers a chance for her to resume work, the process may be prolonged, potentially delaying proceedings in the Iryna Farion murder case.
