What is the difference between men's and women's salaries in Ukraine in 2026

Despite the gradual growth of salaries in Ukraine, the income gap between men and women remains significant. In the first quarter of 2026, men earned an average of over 9 thousand hryvnias more, while in certain sectors, the gap exceeded one-third of the salary. This was reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

Men's and Women's Salaries: What is the Difference in 2026

According to the State Statistics, the average monthly salary in Ukraine from January to March 2026 was 28,885 hryvnias.

At the same time, the average income of men reached 33,798 hryvnias, while women earned an average of 24,791 hryvnias. Thus, the difference was 9,007 hryvnias per month.

The statistical office notes that the ratio of women's and men's salaries is 73%. In other words, the average earnings of women currently equal approximately three-quarters of men's earnings.

Where is the Salary Gap the Largest

The largest difference between men's and women's incomes has been recorded in the field of arts, sports, entertainment, and recreation. There, men earn on average 47.1% more.

The sectors with the largest gender gap also include:

• financial and insurance activities — 38.7%;

• information and telecommunications — 37.8%;

• wholesale and retail trade, as well as transport repair — 30.6%.

These figures indicate that even in high-paying sectors of the economy, the difference in wages remains significant.

Average Salary in Ukraine Continues to Rise

According to the latest data from the State Statistics Service, in April the average salary in Ukraine increased to 30,515 hryvnias. This is 0.5% more than in March.

The highest level of wages has traditionally been recorded in Kyiv, where the average salary is 48,003 hryvnias. Among the regions, Kyiv region leads with an indicator of 30,584 hryvnias.

Currently, the lowest average salaries are in Kirovohrad region — 21,199 hryvnias and Chernivtsi region — 21,687 hryvnias.
