The History of the Village

Founded in the 13th century, the village of Yamelnitsya has undergone many transformations and hardships, particularly during World War II.

In 1938, a local branch of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, better known as OUN, was established in Yamelnitsya. A year later, when the village was occupied by the Soviet army, the OUN members began to be persecuted.

In 1943-1944, about two hundred UPA insurgents operated in Yamelnitsya and the surrounding areas, resisting the invaders.

The Uniqueness of the Yamelnitsya Cliffs

The Yamelnitsya cliffs are a unique rock complex in the Ukrainian Carpathians, which served as a site of resistance during World War II. Today, you can see the UPA hideouts and enjoy the incredible views of the mountainous region.

The Bucsky Canyon, located nearby, is among the top 100 most beautiful places in Ukraine and is known for its energy. Here, even Cossack charakterniks once performed their incredible feats, endowed with magical power.
