Conviction for Illicit Sale of Psychotropic Substance

A 33-year-old woman from the Kyiv region has been sentenced to nine years in prison for illegally distributing the psychotropic drug PVP in Kyiv. The verdict was delivered by the Darnytskyi District Court with support from the Darnytskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv. The accused, who has a prior criminal record, was apprehended with 40 packages of PVP prepared for sale.

Charges and Investigation Details

She faced charges for the unlawful purchase and possession of a large quantity of the psychotropic substance PVP. Investigations revealed that in early January 2026, she arranged the acquisition of this drug through the Telegram messaging platform. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by detectives from the Darnytskyi Police Department of the National Police in Kyiv.

The court imposed a sentence of nine years imprisonment along with asset confiscation. The woman remains in custody at this time.

This case highlights the ongoing challenge of illegal drug trafficking in Ukraine and the dedicated efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat it. The seizure of a significant amount of psychotropic substances suggests the possibility of organized criminal activity, posing serious risks to public safety. The court’s firm ruling reflects the country’s strict legal stance on drug offenses, serving as a strong warning to potential offenders.

This recent conviction is part of a broader crackdown on the distribution of dangerous substances in Kyiv.
