50 thousand students aged 25+ expelled: Ministry of Education reveals large-scale violations

Міністерство освіти оприлюднило інформацію про масові порушення, внаслідок яких понад 50 тисяч учнів старше 25 років втратили можливість навчатися.

Student Expulsions in Ukraine

In Ukraine, about 50 thousand students aged 25 and older have been expelled for violations of legislation. This situation is the result of an audit conducted by the State Education Quality Service (SEQS). It is noted that the number of students in this age category has increased from approximately 30 thousand to about 230 thousand over the past three years, which is related to the onset of full-scale war.

Inspections and Their Consequences

The audit covered all levels of education, resulting in eight criminal cases being opened against officials of educational institutions. During the investigations, deans and rectors of certain universities were detained. Reports have also been submitted regarding the revocation of licenses for two educational institutions. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (MoES) plans to conduct about 20 additional inspections in this area.

According to Ruslan Hurak, more than 200 thousand students aged over 25 still remain in the education system. This data indicates changes in Ukraine's educational environment and the need for quality control in education, especially in the context of current challenges.

The situation with student expulsions underscores the importance of quality control in education in Ukraine, especially in wartime conditions that have altered the structure of learning and increased the number of older students. Further actions by the Ministry of Education and Science, particularly planned inspections, aim to ensure compliance with legislation and enhance educational standards in the country.
