The Ukrainian Yuriy Kuleshkov, a lecturer at the Central Ukrainian National Technical University, won silver at the international tournament 'Super Copa de España de Judo de Veteranos Comunidad Valenciana' in Spain. The sports competition brought together athletes from 10 countries, including a representative from Ukraine.
Kuleshkov competed in the age category of 70-74 years and the weight category up to 73 kg. He demonstrated high skill and earned a silver medal.
During the European Youth Olympic Festival, the Ukrainian team won 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals, placing 10th in the overall medal standings. This is the second greatest success of the Ukrainian team since the festival began in 1993. Ukrainian athletes impressed with their performances in judo, swimming, athletics, taekwondo, shooting, gymnastics, and table tennis.
The Ukrainian team also demonstrated good results at the World Summer Universiade in Germany, where it took 14th place in the overall standings, securing 4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals, one of which was won by Mykola Rushchak in the 20-kilometer race walking.
