Adi Hütter Appointed Manager

Eintracht Frankfurt has confirmed the appointment of Adi Hütter as the club’s new head coach. This move follows the dismissal of Albert Riera, who spent only a few months in charge. Hütter has signed a three-year contract, marking his second stint with the club after previously managing from 2018 to 2021.

During his earlier tenure, Hütter guided Frankfurt to a fifth-place finish in the 2020/21 campaign, their best result under his leadership. The 2025/26 season saw Eintracht end in eighth place in the Bundesliga, missing out on European competition. The campaign began with Dino Toppmöller, who left the team in mid-January. Dennis Schmitt took over on an interim basis, and two weeks later, Albert Riera was appointed.

Team Performance and Hütter’s Background

Eintracht competed in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and the Champions League. In Europe, they recorded one win and one draw in the group stage but suffered six defeats. Their DFB-Pokal run ended in the second round after a penalty shootout loss to Borussia Dortmund.

Adi Hütter, born in the Austrian town of Hohenems, developed through the Altach academy and made his senior debut for GAK from Graz. He also played for LASK Linz, Austria/Red Bull Salzburg, and Kapfenberg. As a player, he won three league titles and one Austrian Cup. His coaching career began within the Red Bull system, where he was part of the coaching lineage mentored by Ralf Rangnick.

Hütter has managed Red Bull’s reserve and first teams, as well as Altach, Grödig, Swiss side Young Boys, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and French club Monaco. As a coach, he won the Austrian league title with Red Bull and the Swiss championship. His return to Eintracht marks a new chapter, with the club hoping for improved results in the coming seasons.

Bringing Adi Hütter back as head coach is a strategic decision aimed at steering the team back toward success. His prior experience with the club and understanding of its operations could positively influence the squad’s performance.

Given the team’s underwhelming results last season, the club is counting on the new manager to motivate the players and achieve better outcomes in future competitions. His leadership will be key to Frankfurt’s progress in both the Bundesliga and European tournaments.
