New Song Release by ANNA MANU
Singer ANNA MANU has unveiled a new track titled 'Lullaby for IDPs' to mark Luhansk Oblast Day. The piece is a tribute to Ukrainians displaced by war. The lyrics were penned by People's Artist of Ukraine Petro Maga, while the music video draws from archival footage of Luhansk.
ANNA MANU, who has lived far from her hometown since 2014, said her inspiration came from working with the NGO 'IDP Ukraine.' She expressed gratitude for the organization's support of displaced people, emphasizing:
“I was inspired by collaborating with the NGO IDP Ukraine, which does so much to help and support our people. I take part in various events organized by them and am grateful they don't leave displaced persons to face their problems alone.”
The Lyricist's Perspective
Petro Maga, the songwriter, also shared his thoughts on creating the piece. He remarked:
“How could I say no? You know, now that everything seems turned upside down, with the world increasingly divided into good and bad, I wouldn't want our compatriots to start splitting among themselves based on which part of the country they came from.”
He added that watching the destruction across Ukraine made it essential for him to write for those who have lost everything:
“Look at the footage from Bakhmut, Toretsk, look at the shattered Luhansk region, how the enemy is destroying our land. Then don't ask me why I wanted to write for people who, unfortunately, have lost everything. I wish for them to return home. I wish for them to see their towns and villages alive again. I wish for everything to turn out as well as possible in their lives.”
In this way, the song 'Lullaby for IDPs' not only commemorates Luhansk Oblast Day but also stands as a profound gesture of support and empathy for those enduring the hardships of war.
This new composition by ANNA MANU highlights the role of cultural solidarity amid conflict and recovery. It serves not only as a creative expression but also carries social weight, drawing attention to the struggles of internally displaced persons and war victims. The track could become a key element in uniting society around themes of rebuilding, solidarity, and remembrance for those who have lost their homes.
As the situation for displaced Ukrainians remains dire, public figures continue to express their views on national identity and unity. Recently, Anastasiya Prykhodko sparked controversy with her remarks about the national anthem, highlighting the ongoing debates surrounding cultural symbols in the face of adversity. Such discussions are crucial as they reflect the sentiments of a nation striving to heal and unite amidst the challenges of war.
