Argentina has released a coin featuring Maradona's goal: details of the commemorative design

The Central Bank of Argentina has unveiled a commemorative silver coin on its website, dedicated to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The reverse of the coin depicts Diego Maradona's famous run that led to his legendary goal against England during the 1986 World Cup, marking the 40th anniversary of this event.


The obverse of the coin is decorated with a football passing through it, symbolizing the love for football that has always been characteristic of Argentinians. The coin is made of 925 silver, weighing 27 grams and having a diameter of 40 mm. The mintage is 2500 pieces for internal circulation and its symbolic value is set at 10 dollars.


The 2026 World Cup will take place in the USA, Mexico, and Canada from June 11 to July 19. In this context, the Ukrainian national team achieved an important victory over Azerbaijan during the qualifiers for this tournament, as well as defeating Iceland in the previous qualifying match.

In the matchup against Iceland, the Ukrainian national team won with a score of 5:3, with goals scored by Malinovsky, Hutsulyak, Kaluzhny, and Ocheretko. Later, the team drew with Azerbaijan 1:1, where the goal was scored by Sudakov. In the previous match, Ukraine lost to France with a score of 0:2, but Ukrainian supporters demonstrated their support by raising a banner that read 'Fortress of Europe.'
