Applications Open for Additional Payments

Ukrainian emergency and repair crews who worked to restore critical infrastructure following Russian attacks in January 2026 can now apply for a 20,000 hryvnia bonus. This payment, part of an experimental government project, will be disbursed for work done in January, February, and March 2026. The program is funded from the state budget's reserve fund, highlighting the ongoing strain on public resources due to the war.

Who Qualifies for the Payments

The bonus is intended for personnel directly involved in repairing damage from the attacks. Eligible groups include:

  • energy sector workers,
  • municipal utility workers,
  • water and heating supply staff,
  • railway employees.

Individual workers do not need to apply themselves; instead, company managers submit the necessary lists via the Diia government portal. The Ministry of Development has already provided the Ministry of Digital Transformation with information on 157 heating, water supply, and sewage enterprises, with approximately 6,500 utility workers involved in January's efforts. Additionally, 623 employees of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) will receive the payment.

According to the established procedure, the Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Energy submit a monthly list of qualifying enterprises to the Ministry of Digital Transformation by the 5th of each month. From the 6th to the 15th, company managers or authorized persons then submit worker lists with required details through Diia. Workers subsequently receive confirmation in the Diia app, and funds are transferred to their bank accounts. Payments are processed by the end of the month following the work period, meaning compensation for January will be paid by the end of February.

This payment program is a crucial initiative to support workers performing vital duties under wartime conditions. Additional financial incentives can help boost the morale and dedication of those tasked with rebuilding the country's infrastructure.

As the program is administered through the state budget, its success hinges on efficient management and the timeliness of disbursements.
