On Friday, US President Donald Trump promised assistance to Ukraine in the field of air defense due to increasing tensions from Russia. The conversation between Trump and Zelensky took place against the backdrop of the escalating conflict in Ukraine, provoked by Russia. Following Trump's unsuccessful negotiations with Putin and the intensification of Russian airstrikes on Ukraine, discussions were initiated regarding the supply of air defense systems for Ukraine at the ministerial level between the US and Germany. Zelensky also confirmed his intention to cooperate with the United States on this issue to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian airspace.
