Gasoline and diesel prices in Ukraine may soon decrease if everyone plays fair. This is the opinion of the director of energy programs at the 'Razumkov Center', Volodymyr Omelchenko. According to his forecast, if prices do not decrease next week by 3-4 hryvnias, it may indicate an abuse of monopoly power by some companies.
In June, fuel prices in Ukraine surged by 6-7%, mainly due to the conflict between Israel and Iran. Thus, gasoline rose to 58.92 hryvnias per liter, while diesel reached 55.88 hryvnias per liter. Omelchenko believes that such a sharp price increase could be a speculative move by fuel companies.
The expert urges the Antimonopoly Committee to take control of the situation and investigate the price increase, as consumers have already overpaid for fuel 'hundreds of millions, if not billions of hryvnias.'
Conclusion: The director of the 'Razumkov Center', Volodymyr Omelchenko, warns that fuel prices in Ukraine should decrease, or this may indicate an abuse of monopoly power by companies in the fuel market. The expert also believes that the price increase in June was speculative and emphasizes the importance of investigating this situation by the relevant authorities.
