Drone attacks on Donetsk region
On the night of January 14, drones attacked the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region, including substations in Donetsk and Makiivka. As a result of these attacks, the cities of Donetsk, Makiivka, and Yenakiieve were partially left without electricity. Explosions were recorded in the mentioned settlements, leading to severe disruptions in power supply.
This attack on the Donetsk region is not isolated. On the night of January 13, a blackout also occurred in Mariupol due to drone strikes. Earlier, on November 18, Denis Pushilin announced a state of emergency in the Donetsk region. This decision was made in connection with a large-scale drone attack on the Zuivska and Starobeshivska thermal power plants.
Growing threat of attacks
It is worth noting that on the night of November 17, drones already attacked Donetsk, resulting in a power outage throughout the city. At that time, damage to the Chaykino 330 kV substation was also recorded. These events highlight the growing threat from drone attacks on the infrastructure of the occupied territories of the Donetsk region.
- Drone attacks on infrastructure indicate an escalation of the conflict.
- The situation with electricity supply may have serious consequences for the civilian population.
- Power outages complicate the daily lives of residents.
The attacks also indicate a growing activity and tactical significance of drones in modern military conflicts, which may require new approaches to protecting critical infrastructure.
