On October 22, 2025, the defender of Ukraine Markiyan Zelenyy, call sign Verde, lost his life while serving in the International Legion of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. This was reported by the website 'Glavcom' citing the Lviv City Council.
Markiyan Zelenyy was born on October 28, 1978, in Lviv. He studied at Lyceum No. 80 of the Lviv City Council, obtained higher education at the National University 'Lviv Polytechnic' in the specialty 'Automobiles and Automotive Engineering', and engaged in business activities.
Relatives remember Markiyan as a cheerful, sociable, and kind-hearted man. He loved animals, was interested in the history of Ukraine, and was fearless and devoted to his family. He spoke English fluently and enjoyed playing badminton and skiing.
Devotion to the Motherland
In 2025, Markiyan Zelenyy defended the Motherland from Russian invaders in the Zaporizhzhia direction, as part of the International Legion of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. On October 22, 2025, he gave his life in the struggle.
Markiyan Zelenyy was buried on October 29 at the Lychakiv Cemetery, in the field of Honorary Burials of modern heroes. He left behind a wife, a son, and parents.
