Botafogo Pulls Out of Matches Scheduled in Moscow

Футбольний клуб Ботафогу відмовився від участі в іграх, запланованих у Москві.

Botafogo Withdraws from the Brotherhood Cup

Brazilian football club Botafogo has unilaterally decided to withdraw from the Brotherhood Cup tournament, which was set to take place in Moscow. This move goes against previously signed agreements and official announcements. According to reports, Botafogo was scheduled to face Moscow's CSKA on July 4 and Dynamo on July 10. The club cites internal board-level reasons for its decision.

Last year's Brotherhood Cup featured Moscow's Dynamo and CSKA, along with Serbian clubs Partizan and OFK. Dynamo emerged as the champion of that edition. Botafogo informed both Dynamo and CSKA of its decision, stating it would not travel to Moscow or participate in the tournament.

Elimination of Russian Occupiers

Separately, reports confirm the elimination of Russian occupiers. Defense forces neutralized 46-year-old Georgiy Kamalov, who played for the Vladivostok-based team Era from 2003 to 2011. In recent years, he worked with the football club Anri, guiding it to the level of the Russian Cup. Additionally, Ukrainian armed forces eliminated Russian occupier Chingiz Dodiyev, born on December 1, 1993, in the village of Baragkhan, Kurumkansky District, Republic of Buryatia, Russia.

Botafogo's withdrawal from the Brotherhood Cup may signal a shift in how clubs approach international tournaments, especially amid political and military tensions. This reflects a broader trend where sports organizations are reassessing their participation in events that could be seen as endorsing or legitimizing certain political regimes. The elimination of Russian occupiers underscores ongoing conflicts that impact the sports landscape and may influence future international competitions.
