A study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition has uncovered a serious lack of vitamin D among residents of England, particularly in at-risk groups—a problem that persists even during the summer months. Researchers analyzed blood samples from nearly 300 individuals living in northern Great Britain, focusing on adults aged 65 and older as well as ethnic minorities of all ages. This region's limited sunlight makes such deficiencies especially concerning for public health.

The findings revealed that more than half of elderly participants had a vitamin D deficiency, with even higher rates observed among ethnic minorities.
