Kyrylo Budanov’s Address at the Kyiv Security Forum
Speaking at the 18th annual Kyiv Security Forum, the head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, Kyrylo Budanov, stressed that the pursuit of peace should never be mistaken for weakness. He made clear that Ukraine will not accept the loss of any territory, stating:
“I believe no one in Ukraine will agree to give up even a millimeter of our land. On this, I am absolutely certain.”
Strategic Partnership with the United States
The forum, held under the theme ‘Dusk or Dawn: Is There Light Ahead?’, served as a platform for discussing strategic security issues amid current global challenges. Budanov described the United States as a strategic partner for Ukraine and expressed hope that the feeling is mutual:
“We consider the U.S. a strategic ally. I hope they see us the same way.”
The official also confirmed that U.S. negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to visit Kyiv. “We are waiting for them in Kyiv. This is widely known, and I believe it will indeed happen,” he said. Budanov emphasized Ukraine’s readiness for trilateral talks involving third parties, but excluding Russia and Belarus: “We are prepared for any scenario. If we remain strong, that will give us room to maneuver. If we are weak, others will dictate the terms.”
Budanov’s remarks at the forum underscore Ukraine’s stance on international security and its commitment to constructive global dialogue. The event highlights Ukraine’s intensified diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict and strengthen international alliances—an urgent priority given the ongoing threat from the aggressor. The focus on security cooperation with the U.S. also reflects a key strategic direction in Ukraine’s foreign policy.
