Russia Spends Billions on Information Warfare, Says Budanov

Витрати Росії на пропаганду досягають астрономічних сум, за словами Буданова.

Statement by Kyrylo Budanov

On the fifth anniversary of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Budanov issued a statement on Facebook. In his address, he emphasized that Russia is pouring billions into an information war against Ukraine. Budanov highlighted that the struggle for truth and unity gives Ukraine a strategic advantage, especially as the enemy seeks to fracture national cohesion and confuse the international community.

The Role of the Center for Countering Disinformation

Now five years in operation, the Center for Countering Disinformation has evolved from simply debunking fake news to carrying out active information campaigns and operations on adversary territory. Kyrylo Budanov also stressed that without unity, Ukrainian society cannot withstand the war or implement any decisions, even under the most favorable circumstances.

Previously, Kyrylo Budanov gave an interview to Ukrinform, where he also discussed the importance of fighting disinformation and its impact on society.

Kyrylo Budanov's remarks underscore the critical nature of the information battle amid Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The Center for Countering Disinformation, established to ensure information security, plays a key role in shaping public awareness and countering disinformation campaigns. Maintaining national unity and ensuring transparent information flows remain vital for Ukraine's stability during the war.

In addition to addressing the disinformation threat, Budanov has also emphasized the need for Ukraine to tackle systemic issues within its governance. This highlights the interconnectedness of information security and political integrity as essential components for national resilience.
