Greetings on the Day of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
In a message marking the Day of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the President's Office, emphasized Ukraine's capacity to emerge as a reliable guarantor of maritime security in the Black Sea region. He pointed out that the country possesses all the necessary resources to achieve this, thanks to its unique experience in naval warfare and its strong scientific and industrial base.
In a statement published on his official Telegram channel, Budanov highlighted key achievements of the Ukrainian military, including:
- the sinking of the cruiser Moskva;
- the liberation of Snake Island;
- the recapture of Black Sea platforms.
Budanov stressed that, in his view,
“Moscow's aggressive arrogance has been drowned in the Black Sea”— a sign of substantial progress in defending the country's maritime territory.
Further Strengthening of Military Capabilities
Kyrylo Budanov also called for continued enhancement of military capabilities, stating that
“we must further strengthen them: unmanned systems, aviation components, a modern mosquito fleet, coastal missile systems, and ships”. He noted that these are requirements of the current times and essential for Ukraine's future security. Earlier, Budanov publicly unveiled a series of attack naval drones, demonstrating active efforts to modernize the naval forces.
Concluding his address, he asserted:
“We will reclaim everything that rightfully belongs to us”. These words underscore Ukraine's determination to defend its interests in the Black Sea and its intent to solidify its position in the maritime domain.
Given the ongoing developments in the Black Sea, Budanov's statement sends a strong signal about Ukraine's commitment to further strengthen its naval forces. It also reflects the growing role of the Ukrainian fleet in ensuring regional security amid persistent threats from the aggressor. As tensions continue to rise, the importance of maritime security is becoming increasingly critical for Ukraine, highlighting the need for investment in advanced technologies and the modernization of military assets.
As Ukraine bolsters its naval capabilities, understanding the broader implications of these developments is essential. In a related context, Lieutenant General Budanov has also addressed the conditions necessary for Ukrainians living abroad to return home, shedding light on the interconnectedness of national security and societal stability.
