According to the report by the head of the analytical department of the Association 'Pork Producers of Ukraine' Oleksandra Bondarska, the price of pork in Ukraine has increased in 2025 compared to last year. The main reason for this is the reduction of meat production in the domestic market. For example, during the first seven months of this year, pork production decreased by 14-15% compared to the previous period.
In 2025, the number of pigs in Ukraine reached a historic minimum - less than 2.9 million heads, which also affects the price of meat. Although pork imports have significantly increased, their impact on the market is currently negligible due to small volumes. Additionally, climatic conditions have affected prices, leading to a decrease in meat quality and overall production.
'As there is currently no sharp increase in production by operators, the supply is likely to remain weak in autumn, although it will be slightly higher than in summer. This is likely to restrain the anticipated price declines of pork in the market,' the analyst emphasized.
As a result of the analysis, it was found that the price of meat in Ukraine in 2025 increased due to the reduction of production by domestic enterprises and the low number of female pigs. Furthermore, the impact on prices comes from pork imports, but so far it is not significant, as well as the number of pigs which has decreased due to certain factors such as climatic conditions.
