Klychko announced possible changes in transport fares in Kyiv

The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klychko, informed the city's residents about possible changes in the cost of public transport. He shared this information on his Telegram channel.

According to Klychko, the operation of Kyiv's public transport requires significant expenses amounting to 11 billion hryvnias per year. These funds are allocated from the city budget to compensate for the difference between the current tariffs and the actual cost of the service.

'This is budget money from Kyiv. And in conditions where the capital is losing funds to Ukrzaliznytsia – there will not be enough planned subsidy funds for the capital,' Klychko emphasized.

Additionally, the mayor noted that another billion hryvnias from the city budget is spent on providing free transport for certain categories, which is not compensated by the state. In this regard, the Finance Department is considering the possibility of revising transport service tariffs.

The city hall is seeking additional sources of funding to avoid increasing the fare for public transport in Kyiv. Klychko assured that transport tariffs in the city will remain unchanged until the end of the war.

After many years of compensating the difference between the cost of services and the current tariffs, the city authorities are considering the possibility of raising transport fares in Kyiv, seeking additional sources of funding for public transport.
