For fresher berries, shoppers can expect to pay around 149.90 UAH per kilogram, while black ripe cherries are priced at 175 UAH per kilogram. Forecasts and Supply

Most of the cherries currently on display are sourced from the Odesa region and Moldova. However, local early-season cherry varieties are expected to appear in about ten days. It is worth noting that spring frosts caused some damage to cherries in the Kyiv region, which could affect supply volumes.

Olena Kishchak noted that, despite the unpredictable spring weather, the Ukrainian cherry market will be reliably supplied with domestically grown produce this summer.

Forecasts for cherry prices during the peak harvest season range from 100 to 150 UAH per kilogram. This suggests that prices may stabilize in the near future. For comparison, a year ago cherry prices in Kyiv ranged from 300 to 650 UAH per kilogram, indicating a notable price stabilization in the current season.

The wide variation in cherry prices in Kyiv reflects changing market conditions driven by supply and seasonal factors. Projections of prices stabilizing between 100 and 150 UAH per kilogram highlight a downward trend compared to last year, which could boost consumer demand. With local cherry varieties expected to hit the market in the coming days, further shifts are possible, though risks from spring frosts remain a concern.

As cherry prices begin to stabilize, it's interesting to note that other produce in Kyiv, such as cucumbers and peas, has also experienced significant price drops recently. This trend highlights a broader shift in market conditions, which may influence consumer choices.
