Fuel Price Update in Ukraine

As of June 9, 2026, new fuel prices have been set across Ukraine. The average cost of A-95 gasoline stands at 75.91 hryvnias per liter, while diesel fuel is priced at 85 hryvnias per liter. Two gas station networks adjusted their rates: one reduced diesel by 1 hryvnia per liter, and the other cut the price of A-100 gasoline by the same amount. The most expensive fuel is offered by the Okko, WOG, and Socar chains, whereas the cheapest options can be found at Ukrnafta and BRSM-Nafta stations.

Cashback Program and Price Trends

A fuel cashback program, which ran from March 20 to May 31, 2026, proved popular among Ukrainians, with 2.3 million people taking part. The initiative offered 15% back on diesel, 10% on gasoline, and 5% on autogas. During this period, diesel prices in Ukraine surged by 33.9%. While diesel supply volumes in March remained at 2025 levels, prices for diesel (based on Platts) skyrocketed by 86% between February 26 and March 31. Import costs for fuel rose by 58%, and prices at gas stations climbed by 39%. On average, gasoline prices at the pump increased by 16%, while diesel saw a 39% jump.

It is worth noting that nearly 85% of light petroleum products in Ukraine rely on imports. According to Pavlo Kyrylenko, the main objective factor behind the price hikes is that after the shutdown of the country's largest—and essentially only—oil refinery, all light petroleum products are now more than 85% dependent on foreign supplies. Despite this, average gas station prices in Ukraine rose at a slower pace: gasoline by 16% and diesel by 39%.

The Antimonopoly Committee found no evidence of monopolistic practices in the market. Serhiy Kuyun stated that

“there is no diesel shortage, nor is one expected.”
However, the increase in fuel prices can be attributed to several factors:

  • rising demand
  • reduced supply and lower inventory levels
  • higher actual costs of acquiring petroleum products
  • increased logistics expenses

In conclusion, fuel prices in Ukraine remain under monitoring, though the trend indicates serious challenges for consumers and the market as a whole. The rise in imported fuel costs, coupled with heavy reliance on external suppliers, could threaten future price stability. With high demand and limited domestic production, the fuel market may face further hurdles ahead.
