Fuel Prices as of April 20, 2026
Fuel prices at Ukrainian filling stations remained unchanged as of April 20, 2026. The average cost of A-95 gasoline is 73.61 UAH per liter, while diesel fuel averages 90.3 UAH per liter. According to the publication 'Glavkom', the most expensive fuel is offered by the Okko, WOG, and Socar networks, while the cheapest can be found at Ukrnafta and BRSM-Nafta stations. These prices are significant for consumers, as fuel costs are a major household expense.
'National Cashback' Program and Factors Driving Price Increases
A 'National Cashback' program for fuel has been active in Ukraine since March 20, 2026, offering rebates of 15% on diesel, 10% on gasoline, and 5% on autogas. The maximum cashback amount is up to 1,000 UAH per person per month, and the program is set to run until May 1st.
Despite the current price freeze, diesel prices in Ukraine have risen by 33.9% overall. Supply volumes for diesel in March remained at 2025 levels. Pavlo Kyrylenko, a government representative, noted that the primary factor behind the price increase is dependence on imported oil products, as 85% of them rely on imports following the shutdown of Ukraine's largest oil refinery.
Serhiy Kuyun, an expert in the field, assured that 'there is no diesel fuel shortage and none is anticipated.'
Other factors contributing to rising fuel prices include:
- increased demand volumes,
- reduced supply volumes and reserves,
- higher costs for logistics services.
All these circumstances together create a complex situation in Ukraine's fuel market.
The decision to hold fuel prices steady, despite the rise in diesel costs, indicates short-term market stability. The 'National Cashback' program may ease the financial burden on drivers, but Ukraine's reliance on imported oil products leaves the market in a vulnerable position. Given rising demand and constrained supply, the fuel market situation could change in the near future. Monitoring changes in supply volumes and prices will be crucial for both consumers and businesses.
