На човні з мігрантами, який перекинувся поблизу Лівії, зникли безвісти 116 осіб.

Tragedy of migrants off the coast of Libya

A boat with 117 migrants capsized off the coast of Libya, and the fate of 116 people remains unknown. The vessel set sail from the city of Zwara on December 18, but after leaving the port, weather conditions worsened, leading to the loss of contact with the boat.

The only survivor turned out to be a man rescued by a local fisherman. The survivor was taken to the hospital for medical assistance. The NGO Alarm Phone reached out to the coast guards of Italy, Libya, and Tunisia, trying to get help. However, the coast guards did not carry out any rescue operations due to adverse weather conditions.

Search situation for the migrants

Humanitarian organizations patrolled the area where the incident occurred, but no traces of the sunken boat were found. The situation remains tense as the search for other migrants yields no results.

This incident highlights the dangers faced by migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea, as well as the challenges that rescue services face in worsening weather conditions. Left unsupported, many people find themselves in dangerous situations, requiring urgent response from international organizations and governments of coastal countries.
