Ukraine and Denmark Expand Defense Partnership
Denmark has agreed to purchase Ukrainian-made drones and interceptors, localize production within its borders, advance air defense systems, and support Ukraine’s missile programs under a strengthened defense partnership. Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov held talks with his Danish counterpart Troels Lund Poulsen to outline key areas of cooperation. This agreement marks a significant step in deepening bilateral defense ties amid ongoing regional tensions.

The primary focus of the discussions was the procurement of Ukrainian-manufactured drones, including interceptors, for Ukraine’s defense forces. In 2024, a new funding mechanism helped Ukraine secure approximately three billion dollars, enabling the production of over 200,000 unmanned aerial vehicles, thousands of electronic warfare systems, Ukrainian missiles, and other weaponry. Fedorov urged Denmark to expedite additional aid before the June Ramstein-format meeting.
The talks also explored the potential for setting up new production facilities in Denmark to meet the needs of the Ukrainian military. A proposed Drone Deal framework was discussed to streamline the exchange of technology and defense goods. Additionally, Ukraine invited Denmark to join an anti-ballistic missile project, specifically requesting radar systems.
