On the morning of October 17, emergency power outages have been reintroduced in several regions of Ukraine, including Sumy, Poltava, and Kharkiv. This was reported by UNN referencing local energy companies.

Who will be disconnected in Sumy region on October 17

According to Sumyenergo, emergency disconnection schedules (EDC) are in effect in the region as instructed by NEC "Ukrenergo".

«Currently, EDC has been applied for the first stage of consumers,» the company clarified.

What are the power outage schedules in Kharkiv and Poltava regions on October 17

Poltavaenergo informed enterprises in the region that from 7:00 to 22:00 on October 17, a power limitation schedule (PLS) in five stages has been introduced. Meanwhile, Kharkivenergo reported that power limitation schedules are in effect for industrial consumers in the region until 22:00 today.

Thus, as of the morning of October 17, emergency limitations are in effect in the:

  • Sumy region — emergency disconnections of the first stage;

  • Poltava region — power limitation in five stages;

  • Kharkiv region — reduction of electricity supply for industry.

Energy specialists emphasize that these measures are necessary due to the overload of the energy system and the need to balance consumption. Such emergency disconnections have been periodically implemented in various regions of the country in recent weeks when consumption levels exceeded available capacities.

Ukrenergo has repeatedly warned that the autumn-winter season of 2025 may become one of the most challenging due to generation shortages and damage to energy infrastructure. According to company representatives, consumers should be prepared for temporary limitations and plan the use of electrical appliances during times of lowest load.
