Kremlin representatives rejected the new ultimatum from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding negotiations with Ukraine to end the war, reports the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). This indicates Russia's intention to continue military actions.
“Trump cannot dictate the terms of peace negotiations, we will continue to protect our military interests,” said Dmitry Medvedev.
Analysts view this as a potential for political and narrative changes in Ukraine, a reassessment of NATO relations, and a weakening of the Ukrainian army.
Russia is ready to continue the war
Russian President's spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Russia will continue to fight to protect its interests, ignoring Trump's demands, and marked the fading cooperation between Russia and the U.S.
Peskov emphasized Moscow's interest in dialogue with Washington, but this will require action from both sides. At the same time, the deterioration of relations makes negotiations on extending the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty impossible.
Kremlin representatives rejected Trump's ultimatum regarding negotiations with Ukraine, thereby confirming their intention to continue military actions. At the same time, Russia stated its willingness to engage in dialogue with the U.S., but pointed out the need for action from both sides. The slowdown in relations between the two countries complicates negotiations on the future of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.
