Internal Government Bond Auction Held

An auction for Ukraine's domestic government bonds (OVDP) has raised the equivalent of nearly 6 billion hryvnias for the state budget. The funds generated from these war bonds are allocated to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and to bolster the nation's financial resilience.

Bond Types and Their Terms

The latest auction involved several bond types with the following characteristics:

  • Hryvnia-denominated bonds with a 1.3-year term and a 15.15% annual yield raised 104 million hryvnias.
  • Hryvnia-denominated bonds with a 3-year term and a 16.15% annual yield attracted 135 million hryvnias.
  • Hryvnia-denominated bonds with a 3.3-year term and a 16.2% annual yield secured 583 million hryvnias.
  • Euro-denominated bonds with a 1.2-year term and a 3.35% annual yield raised 101 million euros.

Since the start of 2026, the state has already raised over 130 billion hryvnias through such instruments. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, total funds raised have exceeded 2.2 trillion hryvnias. These domestic government bond auctions are held every Tuesday, with individual bonds having a face value of 1,000 hryvnias, 1,000 US dollars, or 1,000 euros. The Ukrainian government has relied heavily on domestic borrowing to finance its wartime expenditures, as international aid can be subject to delays.

Raising capital through domestic government bonds is a crucial tool for funding national needs, especially during wartime. This mechanism not only supports defense capabilities but also strengthens the state's financial stability. The active participation of investors signals their confidence in government securities, which can have a positive impact on the broader economy. This domestic borrowing is a key pillar of Ukraine's wartime economic strategy.
