Fresh Coaching Contract in Place
Dynamo Kyiv has locked in its head coach for the upcoming season. Ihor Kostiuk will continue in the role, with both sides agreeing to a two-year extension. Kostiuk first served as interim head coach from November to December 2025, following the dismissal of Oleksandr Shovkovskyi. On December 17, 2025, he was officially appointed as the full-time head coach.
Under Kostiuk’s leadership, Dynamo has played 15 matches, achieving:
- 11 wins
- 1 draw
- 3 losses
The club currently sits in 4th place in the Premier League standings. Notably, Dynamo recently defeated Kolos Kovalivka 2–1 in the 28th round of the Ukrainian Premier League.
Key Milestones and Achievements
The Ukrainian Cup final, where Dynamo will face Chernihiv, is scheduled for May 20. Ihor Kostiuk is now 50 years old. It’s also worth noting that Andriy Yarmolenko has scored his 122nd Premier League goal, leaving him just three strikes shy of the all-time record.
This contract renewal underscores the club’s confidence in Kostiuk’s coaching ability, as the team has posted strong results under his guidance. Looking ahead, Dynamo’s focus remains on upcoming Premier League fixtures and the Ukrainian Cup final—a potential defining moment for Kostiuk’s tenure. With players like Yarmolenko hitting new milestones, Kostiuk has a real opportunity to build on his achievements and elevate the squad to even greater heights.
As Dynamo Kyiv looks to solidify its position in the league and prepare for the upcoming Ukrainian Cup final, the team has faced challenges, including injuries to key players. Recently, the early end of Kabayev's season due to a second injury raises questions about the squad's depth and resilience. This situation adds pressure on Kostiuk to navigate the remaining fixtures effectively.
