The European Parliament supported Bulgaria's transition to the euro
Members of the European Parliament largely supported Bulgaria's application to transition to the euro and join the Eurozone at the beginning of next year. The decision was made at a plenary session in Strasbourg, where 531 deputies voted 'for', 69 'against', and 79 abstained.
'All criteria have been met, and this step marks a key milestone on the path to Bulgaria's full European integration - both for the country and its citizens,' said rapporteur Eva Maydel.
Bulgaria will join the Eurozone
According to the adopted decision, following official confirmation, Bulgaria will become the 21st member of the Eurozone. This will be an important step in the further economic integration of Europe and strengthening the continent's single currency system, joining other European countries that use the euro.
