Five electric buses will be transferred to Irpin as part of humanitarian support from Azerbaijan. The agreement is part of a broader cooperation package between the countries following high-level negotiations. This was reported by AZERTAC.
Electric buses for Irpin: details of international assistance
The transport transfer took place after President Volodymyr Zelensky’s official visit to Baku, where he held talks with Ilham Aliyev. As a result of the meeting, the parties signed six documents on cooperation in various areas, including humanitarian and energy sectors.
The supply of electric buses has become part of this humanitarian support. Earlier, Ukraine had already received aid packages from Azerbaijan, particularly in the energy sector.
Currently, it is not specified:
-
when exactly the electric buses will start operating;
-
on which routes they are planned to be used;
-
how they will be integrated into the urban transport system.
Transport in Irpin: will it solve transportation issues
Irpin has already received public transport from international partners, but the details of its use remained unknown. At the same time, the city feels an increasing need for stable public transport.
Key factors:
-
active reconstruction of the city after the destruction of 2022;
-
return of residents;
-
dependence on private carriers.
The transfer of electric buses could be a step towards the development of eco-friendly transport and strengthening the municipal transport sector.
Irpin, which has become a symbol of resistance during the full-scale invasion, continues to restore its infrastructure. A significant portion of housing has already been repaired, and the railway station has resumed operations.
At the same time, the final role of the new electric buses will be determined by the local authorities' decisions regarding the routes and timelines for their launch.
It is reminded that a batch of frozen chicken products imported from Ukraine to Azerbaijan was found to be contaminated with salmonella. As a result, 4.9 tons of product were destroyed.
