The drone hit one of the buildings of the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant due to 'suppression by technical means' in the Voronezh region of the Russian Federation. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing 'Rosenergoatom'.
The drone was spotted in the sky over the nuclear power plant on the night of October 7. It was 'suppressed' by electronic warfare means. 'As a result, after colliding with the cooling tower of the operating unit No. 6, a detonation of the UAV occurred at the Novovoronezh NPP,' the statement said.
There were no destructions or injuries, but a dark trace from the detonation remained on the cooling tower. The radiation background at the industrial site of the Novovoronezh NPP and the adjacent territory did not change.
As a result of a detailed inspection of the cooling tower affected by the drone attack, NPP specialists found no damage that would affect the load-bearing capacity of the structure and the operation of the cooling tower.
Interestingly, on the night of October 7, Russian Belgorod was attacked by missiles. Presumably, missiles from Himars flew to the city.
As a result of the missile attack on Belgorod, there are also no reports of casualties or destructions. The events that occurred on one night may indicate a possible strengthening of security and protection of facilities in the Russian Federation.
