Ukrainian long-range drones attacked the Ukhta Oil Refinery in the Republic of Komi, Russia, which supplies fuel for the needs of the Russian army. The strike set a new record for strike range for Ukrainian manufactured drones - 1750 kilometers from the state border of Ukraine. This is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
After the hits, a fire broke out at the facility and there was heavy smoke. Preliminary damage to key technological installations has been recorded.
SBU Drones Set Record for Strike Range in Russia
The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the strike was carried out by drones from the Alpha Special Operations Center. According to preliminary data, the following has been damaged at the refinery:
- atmospheric-vacuum tubular installation;
- visbreaking installation.
These facilities are responsible for the primary oil processing, reducing the viscosity of raw materials, and producing fuel oil, gasoline, and gas oil.
Ukhta Oil Refinery and Its Role in Supplying the Russian Army
The Ukhta Oil Refinery is part of the Lukoil structure and processes about 4.2 million tons of oil annually. The facility is involved in supplying petroleum products for the Russian occupying army.
The General Staff also recalled that the day before, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck at the Volgograd Oil Refinery and several military facilities of the enemy in temporarily occupied territories.
