The Miroshnychenko Family’s Bali Vacation
In late June, Inna Miroshnychenko, the wife of a Ukrainian TV host, traveled to Bali with her four children—daughters Mia and Angelina, and sons Mark and Marcel. The trip is set to last nearly two months. The family’s biggest expense turned out to be airfare, which cost 367,000 Ukrainian hryvnias. Inna pointed out that ticket prices depend on purchasing conditions, but since the war in the East began, the average cost per person has risen to about 80,000 hryvnias, compared to 50,000 hryvnias before the conflict.
Housing and Food Costs
The family is renting a villa in Bali for $2,500 per month. The property includes a pool, a large kitchen, and parking. Located away from the ocean, near the jungle, it has at least three bedrooms. Inna Miroshnychenko noted that villas right by the ocean are significantly more expensive—around $15,000 per month. Such oceanfront properties are often old and costly, making it difficult to find new, attractive options.
Monthly food expenses for the family do not exceed $500. Inna believes total costs could be higher due to additional incidentals. Groceries at supermarkets in Bali cost roughly the same as in Kyiv, though local markets may inflate prices for tourists. As for transportation, a single taxi ride runs between 100 and 120 hryvnias.
Overall, the Miroshnychenko family is budgeting for their stay in Bali, taking into account all necessary expenses that might arise during the vacation.
This family trip highlights the rising costs of overseas travel, especially amid the economic shifts caused by the war. Inna Miroshnychenko also stresses the importance of budgeting for trips, considering various aspects like accommodation and food.
This could serve as a useful example for other Ukrainian families planning trips under today’s economic challenges.
