Roundtable Marks Two-Year Anniversary of Ukraine's Administrative Procedure Law
A roundtable discussion was held on January 20, 2026, to mark the second anniversary of Ukraine's Law 'On Administrative Procedure'. The event brought together representatives from the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament), various ministries and government agencies, the judiciary, local self-government bodies, EU international projects, and independent experts. The roundtable was organized by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and the EU projects 'Support to Comprehensive Public Administration Reform in Ukraine' (EU4PAR) and 'Pravo-Justice'. This law is a cornerstone of the country's efforts to modernize its public administration and bring it closer to European standards.
Participants reviewed the outcomes of the law's implementation and the legal practices that have developed over the past two years. The primary focus was on the current challenges faced by state authorities in their interactions with citizens and the next steps needed to refine these administrative processes. The presence of Yevhen Kapinus, Chairman of the Board of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, underscored the broad significance of this reform across different branches of government.
Exploring New Approaches to Administrative Processes
The roundtable served as a platform for exchanging ideas and developing new approaches in the field of administrative procedures, all aimed at improving citizen-government interactions. Attendees emphasized the necessity of refining existing mechanisms to foster more efficient and transparent governance.
This event highlights the importance of continuing public administration reforms, particularly in the context of improving administrative procedures.
Given the challenges Ukraine faces, discussing new approaches and mechanisms for state-citizen interaction is critically important for ensuring effectiveness and transparency in public administration. The resulting recommendations are expected to influence further improvements to legislation and practice, which will ultimately contribute to a better quality of life for citizens.
