Ed Sheeran's Departure from Warner Music
Ed Sheeran has announced he is leaving Warner Music Group after 15 years together. The singer described the decision as a personal reflection and a move toward the next chapter of his career, stressing that it is not a case of an unhappy artist walking away from a label, but rather a deliberate life choice.
“I was a teenager when I started this journey. Now I’m a father of two and feel it’s time for a new phase,” Sheeran noted.
The collaboration with Warner Music Group began in 2011. Over that period, Sheeran sold more than 170 million albums worldwide and accumulated 126 billion streams. His hits, including:
- “Shape of You”
- “Perfect”
- “Thinking Out Loud”
- “Bad Habits”
became defining records in the global music industry. In Ukraine and the UK, he achieved 13 number-one singles and nine number-one albums. Additionally, 14 of Sheeran's songs have joined the Spotify Billions Club, and his YouTube videos have surpassed 38 billion views.
Sheeran’s contract was originally signed by Atlantic UK head Ed Howard. Although Sheeran is leaving Warner Music, his song catalog will remain under the label's management, and the door remains open for future collaboration between the artist and the company. Meanwhile, Warner Music Group continues to work with stars such as Dua Lipa, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Cardi B, and Muse.
“While this level of success has been thrilling, it has also been an enormous challenge,” Sheeran concluded.
Ed Sheeran's exit from Warner Music Group could mark a significant milestone in his career, as the artist intends to focus on new projects and fresh approaches to music. Despite ending his partnership with the label, Sheeran leaves behind a massive catalog of songs that underscores his enduring popularity and influence in the music industry. This move may open up new creative opportunities and experiments, which could excite his fans in the years ahead.
